Firmenich Asia Pacific (the APAC division of the world’s largest independent fragrance and flavour manufacturer headquartered in Switzerland).
Desired learning outcome:
Fast-track on-boarding of new hires in terms of understanding the company value chain.
Understanding of company policies, processes and resources available.
Cost-effective solution that would work across regions and time zones. Previously all new hires attended a central residential on-boarding programme.
Solution & Method:
LD designed an on-line multi-media simulation which takes new hires through the company’s value chain in an engaging way – styled as the Firmenich Business Leadership Challenge.
The timetable and content can be controlled and varied via the simulation management platform by the client company.
Teams of up to 5 new hires throughout the Asia-Pacific region compete to win the business of a simulated but realistic potential client company based in China planning to launch a new toothpaste brand.
In order to compete, teams have to gain an in-depth understanding of the Firmenich value chain.
Teams are scored on the basis of their decisions during the challenge and there is a prize giving and recognition ceremony by webinar at the end of the programme.
Since its development, the programme has run successfully for 4 years.
It has proved to be a cost-effective method of familiarising new hires with Firmenich’s value chain, processes and resources.
The Challenge is engaging and effective in making new hires aware of company resources work across regions and time zones.
